Mauro Giuliani was born on the 27th of July 1781 in Bisceglie, Italy. He was an Italian guitarist and composer known by many as a leading virtuoso of the nineteenth century. He began his studies in Barletta where he moved with his brother Nicola in the first years of his life. His first instrumental training was on the cello which he never completely abandoned but also studied the violin though he devoted himself to the guitar, becoming a very skilled performer in a short time. The name of his first teachers are uncertain and no one can be sure of his exact movements in Italy.
