Jorge Morel was born in 1931 in Argentina. He received his musical education from his father at the age of seven. He went on to study advanced guitar at the Academy of Professor Pablo Escobar in Buenos Aires. After the graduated he joined Escobar in radio and concert performances.

Jorge Morel made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1961 followed by appearances at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, National Hall in Dublin and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
