Aniello Desiderio

Italian guitarist Aniello Desiderio is considered one of the world's leading guitarists. Born in Naples, Italy in 1971, he started playing the guitar at the age of 8 with professors B. B. D'Amario and Stefano Aruta. While attending musical interpretation classes with the legendary Leo Brouwer, he was chosen for special group lessons. In 1992 he graduated with honors from the Conservatory of Music in Alessandria.

He performed in public for the first at the age of eight. Showing such outstanding gifts, critics spoke of him as an "enfant prodigy", a Wunderkind. At an early age he took part and won many prizes in both national and international competitions such as Donia Competition Messina, Italy - 1986 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Habana, Cuba - 1988 - 1st prize, International Guitar Competition in Tokyo, Japan - 1988 - 1st prize, International Francisco Tarrega Competition Spain - 1992 - 1st Prize, International Competition "Citta' di Sanremo" Italy - 1994 - 1st Prize, International "Guerrero,, Competition Madrid - 1995 - 1st Prize. He has also been awarded the "Neapolitan of the year 1988" and "Artist in Residence Award 1999" by Deutschland Radio and Musikfest Bremen.
The starting point for his career as an international guitarist started during the guitar festival in Volos, Greece. Since then he is performing all over the world in Switzerland, France, Cuba, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Greece, Italy, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Turkey, United States, Columbia, Venezuela, Japan both as soloist and with Orchestras like "Virtuosi di Mosco/Vladimir Sivakov" in Italy, Columbia, Spain. He has also performed for important associations such as "Radio France", in Italy, "A. Scarlatti", "Megaride", "I Pomeriggi Musicali", in Germany, "Bayerische Rundfunk", etc.
In Nov. 1996 he made his New York Debut at the Manhattan School of Music (concert and masterclass)
