Marcin Dylla's Biography

Marcin Dylla was born on the 6th of June, 1976 in Chorzów, Poland. He started playing the guitar at the age of 9 at the State School of Music in Ruda Slapska. Between 1995 and 2000 he studied guitar at the State Academy of Music in Katowice with Ms. Wanda Palcaz. Later on he would continue his studies with famous guitarists such as Oscar Ghiglia in the Musical Academy in Basel, Sonja Prunnbauer at the Musical Academy in Freiburg and with Carlo Marchione in Maastricht at the Musical Conservatory.

He is considered, by many music critics and music lovers, one of the most outstanding classical guitar players. He owes this position, among others, to unparalleled number of awards at musical competitions. In 1996 - 2004 he won the first prize 17 times at the most prestigious international guitar contests taking place in Europe and in the United States of America. Many times he was honored by awards of the audience and orchestras, with which he performed. In 2002 at the 7th International Guitar Convent in Alessandria, Marcin Dylla was also granted a “gold guitar” musical critics’ award for the best coming young guitar player.

During his study, Marcin Dylla won the following awards:

1998 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition „Karl Scheit” in Vienna
1999 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Liechtenstein
2000 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Alcoy /Spain/
2000 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Gargnano /Italy/
2001 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition “Gitarre Forum” in Vienna
2001 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Sernancelhe /Portugal/
2001 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Alassandria /Italy/
2002 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition „Joaquin Rodrigo” in Madrid
2002 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Almeria /Spain/
2002 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition in Crete
2002 - 1st Prize, International Guitar Competition H.R.H. Princess Cristina in Madrid

His popularity in the artistic life of Europe, is confirmed by his participation in many musical festivals, conducting master classes, cooperation with outstanding musicians and orchestras, as well as giving many recitals in prestigious, world concert halls, such as Konzerthaus -Vienna, Musikverein - Vienna, Auditorio Nacional - Madrid, Philharmonic – St. Petersburg, Kleinhans Music Hall - Buffalo N.Y.
