Pavel Steidl's Biography
Pavel Steidl was born in a small town near Prague, Czech Republic in 1961. He first studied music at the Prague Conservatoire, before becoming a student of the great Stephan Rak. He plays on period instruments and enjoys a busy career as soloist and teacher. Steidl is also a distinguished composer for the instrument and often performs his own works in concert. Among his previous recordings is the critically acclaimed programme of music by Luigi Legnani, recorded for the Naxos Label. After winning first prize at the International Guitar Competition of Radio France in 1982 in Paris, he began his career as a professional musician and became one of the most widely celebrated soloists of his generation. His highly expressive performances of rare 19th-century guitar literature on authentic instruments add a wonderful dimension to his already exceptional performances. He is particularly well known for his interpretations of Baroque Music, especially the music of the Czech composer Johann Anthon Losy. He has appeard in concert halls all over the world in more than 30 countries from among Canada, Cuba, Spain, Poland, Austria, Costa Rica, Mexico, Guatemala, Australia, Japan, England, Scotland and many others. On demand of Italian Guitar Magazine Guitart his name appeared between eight most important guitarist of the year 2003. |
