Joaquin Clerch's Biography
Joaquin Clerch was born in La Havana, Cuba in 1965. He started studying the guitar with Leopoldina Nunez and then continued at the National School of Arts and at the Instituo superior de Arte. His teachers were Marta Cuervo, Antonio Rodriguez, Rey Guerra, Costas Cotsiolis, Leo Brouwer. He also studied composition with Carlos Farinas. In 1990 he came to study in Salzbourg with Mozarteum´s stipendium where he studied guitar with Eliot Fisk, the ancient music with Nikolaus Harnocourt and Anthony Spiri and contemporary music with Oswald Sallaberger. One year later, he finished his studies with the highest award and was awarded the prize of the Cultural Ministry of Austria - for best graduates. Joaquin Clerch has performed in the main important halls in Europe, South America and Japan. Some of the cities where he held concerts include Paris, Tokyo, Munich, Frankfurt, Brussels, Athens, Toronto, La Havana, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, Belgrade, Istanbul and Salzburg among others. He has performed with well known orchestras such as Philharmonic Orchestra of Stuttgart, Bogota´s Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of the Radio of Bavaria, Symphony Orchestra of Bratislava, National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba and the Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg. |
