Laura Young

Born in Toronto, Canada Laura Young started playing at the age of ten. After completing her Music Degree at the University of Toronto, where she studied with Eli Kassner, grants from both the Canada Council and the Ontario Arts Council supported her participating in masterclasses with David Russell and Leo Brouwer. She has also studied with Hubert Käppel at the Hochschule in Cologne, Germany.

She has appeared as a featured soloist in prestigious concert halls such as the Alte Oper - Frankfurt, Germany; The National Arts Centre - Ottawa, Canada and the Auditorio Nacional Madrid - Spain as well as performing at the International Guitar Festivals of Toronto, Canada; Esztergom, Hungaria; Gdanks, Poland; Cologne, Germany and Volos, Greece.

Laura Young has recently performed throughout Europe as a member of the highly successful Guitar Trio de Cologne which was founded in 1991.

Some of the prizes she Laura has won in international guitar competitions are:

- Jacinto e Inocencio Guerrero Competition in Madrid, Spain
- Andres Segovia Competition in Palma de Mallorca, Spain

The wide acclaim given her recordings, television and radio concerts in Canada, the United States, Germany and Spain indicates the magnitude of this young artist´s talent.
