Thibault Cauvin's Biography
Thibault Cauvin was born on July 16th 1984 in Bordeaux, France. He is a young, talented guitarist, truly one of the many gifted of his generation. He began playing the classical guitar at the age of 6 under his father tuition, the guitarist Philippe Cauvin – guitarist and composer – with whom he is still working. Having a strong determination and craving to be come a solo performer, he decided to start a solo career while pursuing his studies at the National Conservatory of Bordeaux with Olivier Chassain. There he unanimously won the gold medal and the Medal of Honor. When he turned 17, he was nominated to be admitted at the Conservatoire National Superieure de Musique de Paris where he studied with Olivier Chassain. He graduated three years later with the highest honor. He has also fine-tuning techniques with Alvaro Pierri and Judicaël Perroy and has also attended mater classes with famous guitarists such as Roberto Aussel, Eduardo Isaac, Pavel Steidl, Alex Garrobé, Thomas Muller-Perring, Aniello Desiderio and many others. Thibault Cauvin also began the inevitable international concourse circuit, motivated by a captivating world at just 20. He had to his own credit the unique achievement of winning 13 international first prizes, including the prestigious “Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition” in Los Angeles (USA), “Concurso Internazionale di Chitarra di Mottola” (Italy), “Forum Gitarre Wien” (Austria), ” Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Clàssica Sernancelhe” (Portugal), “San Francisco International Classical Guitar Competition” (USA)… Reinterpreting works, breathing new life into them, constantly reevaluating his contributions, Thibault has a sharp sense of originality and a natural expressivity. He is an universal guitarist, certainly one of the most eclectic and unconfined yet, possessing an undeniable richness of imagination. He makes the most of the quality and beauty of the instrument, with, first and foremost, a passion that, stirred up by the bursting energy of his youth, irresistibly fascinates. Although being almost unconscious of it, Thibault Cauvin is deeply impregnated by music. He had always been brought up with it from the cradle. All sorts of music, without any discrimination! He didn’t mention this but it is the way he would like to be perceived when he plays, and this probably explains his internationally increasing audience, concert after concert. Thibault Cauvin has already performed with some famous orchestra like the orchestra Montana (USA), the chamber orchestra of Coahulia (Mexico), the Philippines National Orchestra (Philippines), the Albacete Philarmonic orchestra (Spain), the Bernard Thomas orchestra (France) or the orchestra of the National Conservatory of Bordeaux (France). In 2003, he received “The prize of the Arts” from the Rotary Club of Bordeaux. After his 1st prize at the “International Alexandre Lagoya Guitar Competition”, he has been awarded the “Prize of Dominica Island” after a concert on Dominique Island. He has played for different TV programs in France, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Algeria, Morocco, Antilles Island and radio stations in France, USA, Spain, Brazil, Sweden, Turkey, Morocco, Libya, Canada, Germany, Singapore. Thibault Cauvin has already performed more than 400 concerts, unanimously recognized by the critic, at prestigious festivals and theatres in Europe (France, Spain, England, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Danemark, Austria, Greece, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Estonia…), USA, Canada, Mexico, Russia, Switzerland, Brazil, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Malta, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, Lao, Malaysia, Philippines… He has also gave master classes in many different places like the San Francisco Conservatory (USA), the San Paolo music department (Brazil), the Montana state university (USA), the Winnipeg conservatory (Canada), El escuela superior de Musica de Monterrey (Mexico), the Manille University (Philippines), El festival de guitarra de Petrer Alicante (Spain), Le Festival de guitare de Rabat (Morrocco), the Victoria University (Canada), the Kosice Conservatory (Slovenia), the Tallinn Conservatory (Estonia)… Thibault had the utmost chance to collaborate with several famous composers who dedicated him oeuvres like Dusan Bogdanvic, Atanas Ourkouzounov, Pradeep Ratnayake, Olivier Chassain or his father Philippe Cauvin. He has recorded his first CD when he was 16 for the independent French label KI Record. Some years later helped by the French government one of his concerts in Radio France Paris his recorded and published by “Déclic”. In 2005 a third CD named “Bell’Italia”, composed by the greatest Italian composers throughout the centuries, is published by the “Art Communicazione” company (Italy).
