Graham Anthony Devine was born in1971 in Liverpool, England. He began studying guitar at Chetham's School of Music, Manchester with Gordon Crosskey. He moved to Brazil when he was nineteen and became an established teacher and performer there, giving many recitals and master classes throughout South America.
In April 2002, Graham won the first prize at one of the guitar's most prestigious international competitions, the Alhambra International Guitar Competition held in Alcoy, Spain.
