Thomas Kirchhoff's Biography
Thomas Kirchhoff was born in 1963 in Germany. He studied the guitar at the Musikhochschule in Dortmund and then privately in London with David Russell from 1986 to 1987. Mr. Kirchhoff made his debut in 1986. Since then, he has given more than eight hundred concerts in over 30 countries. He is also a member of the Amadues Guitar Duo where he plays with guitarist Dale Kavanagh. Between 1989-1993 he has played with flautist Doriz Dietz in the duo ensemble “Ars Vivendi” Thomas Kirchhoff has produced eleven highly acclaimed CD's. He has appeared in interviews with Dale Kavanagh in magazines like the Cassical Guitar (2001), Gitarre & Laute (1996), Gitar och Luta (1999), Musikblatt (1994), Klassik Heute (2000), Akustik Gitarre (1998), Scala (1999) and Fono-Forum (2001). Due to his international fame and outstanding musicianship, prominent composers have dedicated works to him. Among them are concertos for two guitars and orchestra by Harald Genzmer of Munich and Gerald Garcia of Oxford. Works for guitar and flute and works for the Amadeus Guitar Duo have been written by a wide range of composers including Stephen Dodgson, Carlo Domeniconi, Roland Dyens, Jaime Zenamon, Martin Herchenröder, Toby Twining, Harald Genzmer, Peter Michael Hamel, and Christian Jost. In 1992, Thomas Kirchhoff founded the International Guitar-Symposion Iserlohn, in Germany which has become one of the most prominent international guitar seminars in Europe having over 130 students from different countries. Thomas Kirchhoff has been teaching at the Musikhochschule in Detmold, since 2004. |
